Healing Crisis?
The medical term for healing crisis is the "Herxheimer Reaction." This occurs when the cells release toxins into circulation but the elimination organs (skin, lungs, liver, kidneys, bladder & GI tract) are not able to eliminate them quickly enough.
The healing crisis is very natural and unique for everyone. Most people experience very mild symptoms while others experience severe issues. You need to understand that these symptoms are temporary and will subside as the body gets healthier and toxins are eliminated. Symptoms usually reduce or are eliminated within two to three days but on rare occasions can last a few weeks. You may experience:
-
stiffness, aching muscles, tiredness
-
Shivery - this is due to blood capillaries opening up to increases blood flow to the muscles and the skin surface
-
frequent visits to the toilet - this allows your body to get rid of waste
-
runny nose / coughing - again this allows your body to get rid of toxins
-
headache
-
your body is in a repairing phase and might take some time to re-adjust.
Also known as Classic or Holistic Massage, this massage uses a misture of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion and vibrations. And passive movements. This oil massage focus on the superficial muscles of the body.
The strokes of Swedish massage replicate the movements of the circulatory system. By performing the strokes toward the heart, Swedish massage drains metabolic waste from the limbs of the body.
The most popular benefit of Swedish Massage is how relaxing it is. It is an excellent way to help rid the body of tension and to achieve a sense of overall well-being.
This massage is credited to Pehr Henrik Ling (1776-1839), a prominent Swedish physician and fencing teacher who researched and developed the massage strokes we know today as the Classic Massage. Johann Mezger helped legitimize Ling’s techniques in the public’s mind by giving them French names. Most massage practiced in the West is in one way or another derived from Ling’s original work.
