Healing Crisis?
The medical term for healing crisis is the "Herxheimer Reaction." This occurs when the cells release toxins into circulation but the elimination organs (skin, lungs, liver, kidneys, bladder & GI tract) are not able to eliminate them quickly enough.
The healing crisis is very natural and unique for everyone. Most people experience very mild symptoms while others experience severe issues. You need to understand that these symptoms are temporary and will subside as the body gets healthier and toxins are eliminated. Symptoms usually reduce or are eliminated within two to three days but on rare occasions can last a few weeks. You may experience:
-
stiffness, aching muscles, tiredness
-
Shivery - this is due to blood capillaries opening up to increases blood flow to the muscles and the skin surface
-
frequent visits to the toilet - this allows your body to get rid of waste
-
runny nose / coughing - again this allows your body to get rid of toxins
-
headache
-
your body is in a repairing phase and might take some time to re-adjust.
Thai Massage developed in Thailand over 2,500 years ago out of the silk and spice trades that were happening in China and India. People were traveling through Thailand to do business and bringing along their skills for health which included Acupressure, Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. Combining this knowledge, practitioners in Thailand began to develop their own system, and so Thai Massage for Health was born. In 1955, Wat Po in Bangkok became the first Traditional Medical and Massage School to be approved by the Thai Ministry of Education.
Deeply relaxing and energising, this ancient full body treatment that starts at the feet, and works its way up towards the head using Shatisu and Yoga like stretches to loosen and streach out the body via the ‘Sen’ energy lines.
Traditional Thai Massage is worked on a large futon mat on the floor. The client is fully dressed in flexiable clothing and
tension stored in your body is released, through the rhythmic work on the 10 main energy - or 'Sen' - lines that run through the body. With the use of hands, elbows, feet and gentle twists to minipulate and release muscle and pressure points.
As well as the general all over body massage, problems such as repetitive strain injury (RSI) in the hands or Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) which often result from bad posture, overuse of the computer, poor office set ups. Sciatica problems, Bell’s Palsy and headaches are just some of the ailments that can also be treated gently and naturally with this fantastic massage.
Thai Oil Massage also works around the Ayurvedic treatment principles to stimulate and move energy within the body, while loosening and releasing muscles and tendons. This is fast becoming popular. "It's like a physio/ workout session where I don't have to do anything" is a common comment I receive from clients after this massage.
For those who don't like the trational way of working this massage, using oil is the perfect way to get all the benifits of the Traditional Thai Massage, while being on a typical western massage bed. The oils used are high quality and blended to creates another nurishing element to your deeply relaxing massage.
This is a great massage for a general relaxing physical MOT, or for anyone doing sports - as it is a fast and excellent way to aid injuries, improve movement and flexability on a deeper level.
